There are many different ways to enjoy a city like Prague: undoubtedly, the romanticism that surrounds the entire city makes it perfect for couple plans, but Prague also has a family atmosphere, which makes it suitable to spend unforgettable days in family. How can we enjoy Prague with children?

A fairytale city

Firstly, you don’t need to go to a specific ”children place” to enjoy the atmosphere of Prague: the so called “city of the hundred towers” is a charming place for all children who contemplate their physiognomy of fairytale. Castles, purely medieval atmosphere and corners full of legends are enough to keep our children’s innocent eyes busy.

For these reasons, it is interesting to encourage them to train their imagination and to create scenarios in this magical city. There are multiple possibilities for guided tours in different languages and in different locations such as the Prague Castle or the enchanted and mysterious Vysehrad neighbourhood.

Of course, one of the first locations in Prague that we must show our children is the magnificent astronomical clock, whose machinery and moving figures will definitely leave our children breathless.

Activities for all the family to enjoy Prague with children

Petrin: the land of the imagination

Regarding actual activities designed for children but designed for the whole family too, you can’t miss the Petrin hill (also called the hill of lovers), which is suitable for all ages and tastes.

Near its magnificent tower inspired by the famous Eiffel, we find a leafy area which offers excellent views of the city in a natural and friendly atmosphere. If we want to reach the top of the hill, there is nothing better than using the funicular, a means of transport which certainly entertain the children and keep them stimulated at all times.

In the same area there is a maze of mirrors: undoubtedly spending a morning at this hill will be the best option for the kids and they will enjoy new unforgettable corners. Beautiful places that they will always remember.

Black light theatre is a perfect plan for children and parents

Theater, puppets and a magic lane

In Karlova Street, before boarding the Charles Bridge in the edge of the old city, we can find a corner that will appeal to both parents and children: Ta Fantastika. A theatre called “black theatre”. These theatres are named like this because the stage is completely black, and the actors and objects used are phosphorescent, so they are like a magical light that leaves spectators speechless and shocked.

These silent performances where music plays the main role are typical of Prague and we find them in other theatres in the city, but this, in addition to being the most famous, offers an excellent environment chaired by the Clementinum, right in front, and it is very close to the Minor Theatre, a puppet theatre that will captivate our children.

Golden Lane is a landscape that envolves the imagination of children

From Karlova Street we moved to the Prague Castle, where we find the famous Golden Lane. This quirky and colourful street where elves seem to inhabit more than artisans and souvenir shops stimulate the imagination of children as if it was the setting of a tale and make them feel like princes and princesses in the castle. Indoors we find the toys museum, which contains an extensive collection of Barbies and toys from all over the world: from ancient Greece to the present.

A visit to the zoo is always a good plan for children

These three proposals are not the only ones for children in Prague: there are thousands of places that offer entertainment and fun for kids and the whole family in a city that does not stop surprising us. From the zoo, with its “flying chairs”, to the aquarium, through an unforgettable ride through the Vltava River…do not hesitate to pack your things and travel with your whole family to this beautiful city.
